RAM 3500 Big Horn – More Horses for the Ranch
RAM Trucks and ranch work are built for each other. For many years the horse provided the horsepower to get the work done. A rancher would saddle his horse before daybreak and unsaddle him after dark. This would mean the horse was his companion and partner through the long day. On today’s ranch the horse is still valuable and is used for special jobs such as roping and herding cattle. It has been replace by a mighty horse, the 2015 RAM 3500 Big Horn. This heavy duty truck is built with the rancher in mind. Even the name “Big Horn” takes its place among the other tools that are required to manage a working ranch and provide a living for those who use them every day.
Rugged and Comfortable
The Bighorn is a classic style of truck. Its many features either standard or optional are designed with the rancher in mind. When we saddle a horse the saddle is leather, when we step into a Bighorn the seats are leather. When we take the rains of a horse they are leather, when we take the steering wheel of a Big Horn it is leather. Now that is where the resemblance stops because the seats and steering wheel are both heated for driving comfort. The popular RamBox® Cargo Management System replaces the saddle bags. Consisting of two huge cargo bed-side boxes capable of holding tools for branding or mending fences they are illuminated and drainable which is perfect for icing drinks or sandwiches for lunch on the range. For hauling everything from saddles to fence post the 160.5″ bed is large enough for a full sheet of plywood.
The RAM Command Center is the 8.4-inch full-color, largest-in-class Uconnect® Touchscreen. This communications system puts the driver in command when traveling on the highway to a Rodeo or out on the range for a full days work. Available with a WIFI Hotspot for keeping in touch with the market or a SiriuxXM Satellite Radio for easy listing when out on the range. The full-color display has available navigation to help find the way home from those remote locations on the ranch.
Horsepower to Spare
Gasoline or Diesel is the choice, not oats. Standard with the 2015 RAM 3500 is the 5.7L V8 Multi Displacement VVT HEMI. We just jumped from one to 383 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque with aluminum cylinder heads of the famous HEMI® spherical combustion chambers delivering more airflow. For heavier work the available 6.4L HEMI® V8 with Fuel Saver Technology the horsepower jumps to 410 while producing 429 ft-lb of torque and 16,520 pounds max towing you can now haul the herd, or for the proven performance of a diesel engine the 6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel I6 for the ultimate in torque in the low end where it is needed most.
